I love how this flower photo turned out.  I used close-up lenses screwed onto the front of my lens, and also shaded part of the flower from the sun with a big piece of paper (it was a very hot sunny day).  The close-up lenses gave a really nice shallow depth of field, which makes most of the photo look kind of painterly to me.  It took me more...

How do you get a photo of a baby bird coming out of it's shell?  You guess what day the egg will hatch... and then you keep checking the nest every half hour til you see it start to crack.  Then you run like hell to get your camera.

The light that is lighting up the inside of this baby red cardinal is the sunlight shining through leaves of the tree directly into his mouth.  The bit of sunlight shining through the leaves created a spotlight effect that I couldn't have planned better myself.  I am constantly amazed at my friend Mother Nature.
